Wednesday Evening Prayer

Each Wednesday evening at 7 pm, Linda, one of our Lay Worship Leaders, conducts an evening prayer service.  Often, the service is from the Book of Common Prayer, but occasionally we use different Anglican prayer books from around the world, such as the South India and New Zealand ones.  The service lasts about 20 minutes.  Join us for a moving and spiritual small-group worship experience.

Bell Choir

Our Bell Choir, under the direction of veteran bell ringer Steve, has made great progress in the year and a half we've been playing.  Practices are Thursdays at 6:45 pm in Lyster Hall, and everyone is welcome to join!

Episcopal Church Women (ECW)

All women are members of the ECW.  Meetings are held the first Monday of each month from September through June.  The ECW supports the church, as well as several service projects, including remembrance cards for veterans; donations to the food bank, the domestic violence shelter, and other charitable causes; and volunteering for projects such as Meals on Wheels - and more! For more information, please contact President Cheryl.

Halloween Outreach

Each Halloween, church members gather to give out treats and hot and cold beverages.  Trick-or-treaters can also have their picture taken with the Wholly Ghost.  We've had kids from just a few months through older people - plus lots of pets.  All are welcome.

Seminars and Continuing Education

Our congregation participates actively in Diocesan programs, ranging from Exploring Your Spiritual Journey to the Deacon Formation Program to seminars on topics like religious diversity in Southeastern Michigan.

Lenten Book Study

In 2007, we had a small-group study of the book, A Clearing Season.  Led by Lay Worship Leader Linda, this program helped us all gain a deeper understanding of the season.  Linda is already planning a new program for Easter 2008!

Church Picnics and Potlucks

We have many opportunities for fellowship, including potlucks and picnics scheduled throughout the year, both on Sundays after church and on Wednesdays before Evening Prayer.  Check the What's New? section for what's coming up!

Euchre Night

Another fellowship opportunity takes place on the third or fourth Friday September through May.  All are welcome, whether beginners or card sharks!  Everyone who comes brings a snack to share, so there is also lots of good food.  A sign-up sheet can be found in Lyster Hall.

Dinner and a Movie

Recently, we started a Dinner and a Movie Club, where members meet in someone's home or at Lyster Hall to prepare and share a meal together, watch a movie, and discuss its spiritual themes.

Acolytes

We have several wonderful young people who serve as acolytes, as well as adults who fill in as needed.  Anyone who is interested is always welcome to learn how to serve in this way.  Please see Linda for more information.

Altar Guild

Our dedicated Altar Guild keeps the altar and the church in excellent condition.

Bishop's Committee

The Bishop's Committee is the governing board of the church.  Members are elected during the Annual Meeting in January.  Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7 pm in Lyster Hall.  Contact our Senior Warden Steve for more information.

Blessing of the Animals

On St. Francis's feast day, we have had a blessing of the animals ceremony.  Pets are blessed during a special ceremony.

Mentoring Students

Many members of the congregation volunteer in the Elementary School's SMILE program, which provides one-on-one mentoring for kids in reading.
